My Lai Massacre: Honor and Responsibility Defied
On March 16, 1968 U.S Military had one of its darkest moments to have happen in history; The My Lai Massacre during the Vietnam War. It involved the slaughtering of 507 innocent men, women, and children. After a series of cover ups to hide what the U.S military unit had done, the catastrophe was uncovered. But only one out of two men was found guilty of the crime his name, Lt. William Calley. Captian Ernest Medina was found not guilty when he was responsible for more murders then Calley. This massacre was a major turning point for the worst in the opinion of the Vietnam War. Ultimately that day placed a deep stain on the U.S military. Those officers and soldiers who took place in the killings neglected their responsibility and violated the rights of the Vietnamese civilians killed.
